Robert Guy

Orchestra of Square Chapel work closely with Robert Guy, who conducts all rehearsals and concerts, as well as playing a leading role in the repertoire choice and musical direction of the orchestra.

Full details about this talented young conductor are to be found on Robert Guy’s website.

The end of an era

After ten years as Orchestra of Square Chapel’s conductor, Robert Guy is now moving on, to focus on his work at Manchester University, with the NEW Sinfonia, and other freelance conducting engagements.

Robert has been an inspiration to the Orchestra and  we wish him all the best in his continuing journey. His last concert with the Orchestra will be on June 19th 2022, and he plans to go out in style with a rare performance of Barry Cooper’s reconstructed Beethoven’s 10th Symphony (1st movement), followed by the heroic Symphony No. 9 (The Great C Major) from Franz Schubert.

Meanwhile, Orchestra of Square Chapel are well down the route to choosing a new conductor. From a very strong set of applications, we have selected three talented and experienced conductors, who will each conduct one of our 2022-3 season concerts.

These will be:

Alex Webb (find out more about Alex Webb)

Steve Threlfall (find out more about Steve Threlfall

Melvin Tay (find out more about Melvin Tay)
